William Clay III, Dec 22, 2010, 9:03AM ESTMorning.
Since you feel as though private messages are "harassing", then I shall address this issue publicly. The comments you made on my article were not fact-based. You "attempted" to insult my intelligence and character; thus, I deleted your comment. Now, if you disagreed with actual valid points instead of a "this is wrong because I say so" type attitude, then I would've responded with an appropriate rebuttal. I am done with this issue. Please take care. -
Brett C., Oct 9, 2010, 9:53PM EDTPenny--
Thanks for your ping of 9/28.
Unfortunately, right now, in our anxiety-ridden culture, I think that the one who screams the loudest, in Media, is usually the one who also scares the fiercest and is also the one who is most listened to.
And I am afraid that the Right Wing Media--best fits this description. They are currently prevailing upon public opinion, most pervasively.
But, alas, I am--for better or worse--a Cynic.
I am not sure that we are at the point where either side can solve the problems, before us.
If you play devil's advocate for any of this, would you please first ask Satan if he's a Republican or Democrat?
[I actually know what Party he votes for; but if you ask him, he'll lie.....just like those who lie, when they deny that they listen to, and get their information from, Right Wing Talk Radio. Ha. Ha.] -
Brett C., Sep 28, 2010, 12:37PM EDTPenny--
At the risk of sounding self-righteous and petty--and perhaps that's what I am being, here--I was referring to the pundits predicting overwhelming victory for Republicans in the mid-term elections, ABOVE and BEYOND the normally expected conversion, against the political party who holds the White House.
Therefore, to me, the polls are contradictory--at least, potentially.
In any case, the pains that people will go to, to look for scapegoats, are even beyond my own cynicism, sometimes.......and I think that with the public following the deplorable 'lead' of Right Wing Media, we will, indeed, see an eclipse of what happened in 1994.
Thanks.

Kathy W., Jun 5, 2010, 2:33PM EDT'Allo...I thought we were already connected? Watch out, tho, because folks who like to hate, LOVE to hate me.
(I just learned--on Jim G's post--that I'm supposed to come with a disclaimer.)
Blessings, Dance on!

Cathi L., May 7, 2010, 8:06AM EDTThis is the clearest explanation I've seen to-date. Thank you for sending it. It looks like it was a number of events starting with the removal of the mud but ultimately the lack of a requirement for the blow-out preventer. I've read this before, that other countries require this type of blow-out preventer but the US does not require it.
If this proves true then guess what will be a new requirement?
Also it seems actual hands-on, real event testing of equipment before being deployed hasn't been taken seriously. I can't believe 11 people lost their lives and now so many people will lose their work (fishing & oil rigs) because of half-hazard testing requirements. Unbelievable. -
Cathi L., May 4, 2010, 4:33PM EDTHi Penny, sorry it took so long to get back to you! The best way to help at this point is to help us get information on that webpage. If you get announcements from volunteer agencies, even if it is just saying to wait until they can coordinate, it's helpful. If you get information on low cost or free training, that would be helpful. Groups looking for volunteers, anything along this line. There is a contact form on the website that you can put information on and I can transfer it to the website, or you can send it to me (or Darren Lynn) through Gather or to our gmail addresses which are listed on the website under Who We Are.
Also letting people know about the website and the information we are trying to get a hold of would be great.
Thank you for offering to help!
Any questions or suggestions or idea, don't hesitate. Thank you, Penny and thank you, NOLA! -
Cathi L., May 3, 2010, 11:17PM EDTDarren and I have built a web site to act as a resource for volenteers.
Please help in anyway you can. Thank you!
